Barrelhouse Bonni: Calendar

Great night with Gloria Shannon as the Barrelhouse Ladies at my neighborhood coffee place, with our guest Abb Locke on sax.

This was originally billed as "Barrelhouse Ladies," but Gloria Shannon was unable to travel due to health restrictions from the 99 degree day before. So Larry Taylor, only one generation removed from southern heat, stepped in to sing with me. Family Piano Co. moved the library piano into the courtyard and the concert goers sat through a few raindrops and the show went on! Thanks to Larry and all who came. Here we are taking the train back to Chicago.

Tunes by Tyrone Davis, Joe Simon and Johnnie Taylor ruled at a surprise 40th birthday party thrown by Natasha for her husband on Chicago's South Side. Yes, she picked the right band, led by lead singer Larry Taylor (left) with John B on guitar, Joe Harrington bass, Sambo on drums, Jerry-O on guitar and Barrelhouse Bonni on keyboard. 

Bonni with trumpeter Bob Redd and the ladies in red! They're line dancers from the Hansford senior center at St. Albans. Seniors from all over West Virginia attended the conference, enjoying workshops, fellowship, and music.

Chicago School of Blues entertained winners of high school Black History essay and art contest from all over the city at a Chicago Public Schools banquet at Walter Peyton H.S. in Wicker Park.  Featuring Abb Locke, sax; Barry Marshall bass; West Side Wes drums; Bonni and Miss Taj, instructors and Bonni on keyboard; Killer Ray Allison on guitar.  What an honor to play for these students-- Killer Ray got them involved in the blues and soul songs.

Neighbors, Friends meeting members and teachers stopped by to enjoy acoustic blues music and history. It was an honor to open for Fruteland Jackson, one of the nation's premier blues educators.
