Oak Park Friends Mtg

Blues as a Protest Art Form - 11:30 a.m.

720 Chicago Av.
Oak Park Illinois 60302
Price: Free all ages

This year Oak Park Friends (Quaker meeting) is doing an Adult Religious Education series discussion protest art and its spiritual roots.  African Americans created Blues music as a way to share their feelings by telling stories of their daily lives.  It helped keep the community together during the persecutions of the Jim Crow south. It's also the root of much American popular music--jazz, rock, hiphop, soul, R& B even country.

People outside of the Friends meeting are invited. If you would like to attend the weekly silent worship, it begins at 10 a.m.
